None of the answers solved my problem. What else
can I do?
I am getting an error message stating "Program
install files damaged or missing". What is wrong?
This message indicates that the Online Bible program is not installed
on your hard drive. The Bible module will not work if it cannot find the
program. Download and install the latest program file from our programs
page. After installing the program re-install the Bible module you downloaded.
Obsolete Microsoft Help system MAY CAUSE installation
to lock up.
If the installation continues without locking up do not be concerned
about the message. It indicates that you have an older copy of the MS help
system. We have the help update posted on our site. You should download
and install the file to update your help system. Click here
to download. If installation halts you will need to download and install
the update, then re-install the Bible program.
Win2000 users MUST apply Service Pack 1.
Go to the Microsoft site using the URL listed for the service pack.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default.asp
Will the program work OK if I leave the resolution
at 800 by 600?
Yes, the program will work OK. This message is only a suggestion
on what resolution will work the best with the program. You do not have
to switch settings if you do not want to.
Initialization failed: Restart Program. What
is wrong?
The program is not able to find a Bible module. If you have the
Online Bible CD be sure that is in and the CD-ROM drive is working OK when
you start the program. If you do not have the OLB CD, download the Advanced
Starter Pack and install it.
I had an error message saying that I have an
obsolete Bible module.
File formats and interfaces have changed radically since the very
old version 7. If you want to continue with the older program, do so. If
you want the new material and format, either buy a CD or download the newer
material from our site.
Error message "Windows Error (DestroyCaret)
Access is denied" with Win XP.
Run the Online Bible program as native windows application. You
must have changed the setting yourself, as XP defaults to native mode.
I have lost the Icons on my Tool Bar and just
have F-Keys showing. How do I get them back?
Sometimes the Online Bible Icon Tool Bar gets corrupted while installing the update and must be reset. The steps to do that are first to go to Tools/Diagnostics/Reconfigure Program and when the open window appears, say OK. Then restart the Online Bible program, go to Tools > User Preferences > Tool Bar and select Reset Tool Bar to Installation Default Values.
If you then do not have access to some of the modules that you had previously unlocked, go to Preselect Items (F9) and select the Versions.
I am getting the error message saying
"Damaged Install msg file: . . . ." How do I solve this?
First check the "C:\Windows\Temp" folder for any files and delete them. Then follow the steps below:
Start Disk Cleanup by clicking Start > Programs > Accessories > System
Tools > Disk Cleanup.
Select the "C:" drive. Click on OK.
Make sure that "Temporary files" is checked in the list. Click on
OK.
Re-install the Online Bible program. Re-boot the computer.
If this does not solve the problem you will have to un-install the Online Bible program.
Open "Control Panel" and click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
Look for Online Bible and select it.
Click on the "Add/Remove" button.
Reboot your computer
Re-install the program.
I received an error message saying "Font did
not install correctly." How do I correct this?
Re-booting the computer will usually solve this problem. If the fonts
do not install during the initial installation, they are placed in the
Bible directory and the OLB program will re-install the fonts the next
time it is started.
Questions about add-on material
When will the English Standard Version be available
for the Online Bible?
We are checking into copyright permissions. No idea when that will
be complete.
Will the Amplified version be available on
the CD?
Zondervan will not give us permission to use it.
Will you be adding the Geneva Bible to the
Online Bible?
The text is old English and difficult to read. The translation is
very close to 1611 text. We have no plans to include it.
Who authored the definitions in the OLB lexicon?
Larry Pierce wrote them based on Brown Driver Briggs and Thayer's.
We compared them with several other lexicons also. In doing the lexicons
we found the newer lexicons were less accurate than the older ones.
What is the original publication date of the
"Treasury of Scripture Knowledge"?
1836. Our OLB copy has been altered to add about 100K more of references.
Does the Online Bible have the Hebrew text
with vowel points, or parsed, or with the accents?
No, use BibleWorks for Windows.
The OLB used to have three modules by Jay Green.
What happened to them?
Jay Green withdrew permission for us to use them.
What material is not posted on this site and is available on CD only?
Why am I having problems
with Song Show Plus not starting up Online Bible?
In some circumstances, if you have an older version of Online Bible, it generates a message that your module needs to be replaced and you should update it from our web site. Unfortunately, Song Show Plus cannot handle this error message and the linkage between the two programs sometimes gets lost. The best solution is to download the latest Online Bible programming and install it over the earlier version.
Once the Online Bible is running properly you can close it and try to run Song Show Plus again.
When you go to the Bible page of Song Show Plus, you should find
at least The Authorized Version (not just the King James Version). If not,
you will have to run a small application that they call Activate Online
Bible Pro Module from the Song Show Plus CD-ROM to create the linkage between
Song Show Plus and Online Bible. If you don't have their second CD
with this Pro Module, you can download it from their
web site.
When I try to show the Strong's numbers in
the NIV it doesn't do anything, any ideas?
The NIV does not have embedded Strong's numbers, only the AV, NKJV
and NAS have this. To make comparisons of modern versions to the original
text, you can either open two versions (e.g. AV and NIV) in separate windows
that will scroll together (you will need to change "Window" from Classic
Style) or you can display two or more versions in the same window by turning
one or more on as Alternate versions.
Are there any plans to port The Online Bible
to Linux?
No plans until Linux achieves 5% market share. Currently less than
.5% and shrinking. Most of those running Linux also run Windows. Current
version runs OK under Linux using latest WINE emulator. You must use the
native riched20.dll and riched32.dll for the Online Bible program to work
properly.
I am very interested in purchasing the source
code for the Online Bible. Is it available?
We have enough trouble maintaining Windows source without people
making changes to it, hence we do not distribute it. The latest Windows
program was compiled using Delphi.
Do you have a program for the Palm operating
system?
No, not at the present time. Please go to the OliveTree
web site or Laridian web site
for material.
Do you offer an upgrade CD for the deluxe windows
version?
Except for Calvin's and Trapp's commentaries and The Message being
on the new one, downloading the latest programming will bring your CD up
to date. If you have scratched your Deluxe CD or need a replacement for
some other reason, we can replace it for the same price as we do for the
classic CD ($20 plus shipping). Just call us and we will send it out with
a return mailer for your old Deluxe CD which must be returned.
None of the answers solved my problem. What else can I do?
If the above does not work send us:
A copy of the startup log from the bible directory. We need this file to diagnose your problem!!
A description of the problem and any error messages that are displayed.
