Macintosh OSX
beta release 3.9.10y36 December 7, 2007Click Here To Download The Beta Version
Please keep in mind that this is a test version of the program those who wish to try out the OSX programming with their Online Bible CD. We will not be able to answer any questions and will probably not even acknowledge the problems you find on an individual basis. We don't have any documentation at this stage and there are no help files.
As we have said above we can NOT give any support for the beta version. However it seems that many Macintosh users are trying to use it who do not have the skills that are needed to install it. Here are some suggestions to help the average user to install it. But we are sure there will be those who still have problems and we will NOT give any further support until the help files are completed for the finished programming.
1) Download the Mac Online Bible for OS X beta program.
2) Remove any old copies of the Online Bible application on your hard drive or any other mounted volume.
3) Create an "Online Bible ƒ" folder inside the Applications folder on your hard drive.
4) Unzip the beta archive you downloaded if this wasn't done automatically.
5) Double-click on the disk image (.dmg) file to mount it. Then copy the Online Bible app from the mounted image into the "Online Bible ƒ" folder you created.
6) From the Apple menu execute "Log Out" and after that log back in. This is necessary if you instend to use the Copy Verses command from the Services menu.
7) Insert your OLB Classic or Deluxe CD and locate the true type fonts "OLB Greek", "OLB Greek2", and "OLB Hebrew" in the ":Extras:Shareware:Fonts:OLB:TrueType:" folder.
8) Copy the three fonts "OLB Greek", "OLB Greek2", and "OLB Hebrew" from the CD into the ":Library:Fonts:" folder on your hard drive.
9) Open up the English folder on your Classic or Deluxe CD.
10) Copy the KJV, BDB, Thayer, TSK, and other Bible texts or modules you intend to use into the ":Applications:Online Bible ƒ:" folder on your hard drive. After doing this the modules should be residing in the "Online Bible ƒ" folder next to the Online Bible app on your hard drive.
11) Double-click on the Online Bible app (the icon consisting of a scroll with a feather pen) to launch it. It will automatically load the Bible text and other modules you copied into the "Online Bible ƒ" folder on your hard drive.
12) For easier launching in the future, Control-Click on the Online Bible icon found in the Dock and choose the "Keep In Dock" item. This will allow you to simply click on the Online Bible icon in the Dock instead of attempting to locate it in the "Online Bible ƒ" folder.
13) If you don't already have our fonts on your system, Click Here to download a zipped disk image (.dmg) file containing the OLB Greek, OLB Greek2, and OLB Hebrew fonts. The OLB Greek consists of Greek lower case and Roman upper case. It's for the Greek NT texts which require Roman text for the footnotes (parsing and interlinear). The OLB Greek2 text is both upper and lower case Greek and is used in the Greek lexicons, commentaries, and other add-on modules that use Greek.
Installation Instructions for those running continual beta testing:
Make sure you delete any old or previous copies of the Online Bible application on your hard drive. If for some reason you want to keep the old apps, save them in a Zip or StuffIt archive and delete the originals. Double-click on the attached disk image (.dmg) file to mount it on your desktop under OS X. Copy the "Online Bible" app found on it into the "Online Bible Ÿ" folder which should exist with your Bible texts and other modules inside the Applications folder. After copying over the OLB app, unmount the disk image by dragging it into the trash. This is essential in order to avoid confusion when OLB is launched via the Services menu. Log out of OS X and then back in.Bug submissions:
We're still interested in hearing about any crashes or other bug reports. When submitting bug reports and/or crash logs, please do so in the body of your e-mail message instead of as a separate attached document. The only attachments should be minimal screen shots to explain a bug that requires a visual illustration. An exception to this would be if the log.txt file exceeds 300K in size. If that happens, compress it as a StuffIt (.sitx) or Zip (.zip) file and include the archive as an attachment.Crash Logs:
If you experience a crash, please indicate what you were doing that lead up to it and include a copy of the TWO crash logs (in your e-mail message unless over 300K). 1) The Mac OS X crash log which would be obtained as follows. Launch the Console application found in the Utilities folder. From the File menu choose "Open Log..." and select the "OnlineBible.crash.log" file. The file is located under ":Library:Logs:CrashReporter:" Copy the portion of the file at the bottom from your last crash beginning with the Date/Time field. 2) The Online Bible log file is unique to the Online Bible application. IMMEDIATELY after the Online Bible crashes prior to launching the application again, Control-Click on the Online Bible icon in the Finder and choose the "Show Package Contents" item from the contextual menu. In the window that is displayed, double-click on the Contents folder. Next double-click to open the MacOSClassic folder. Finally open the "log.txt" file and copy it's contents into your e-mail message. It's essential you do this prior to launching the program again or the log file contents will be replaced. Please send bug reports to: maconlinebible@gmail.com
